A new video obtained by CTV News shows flames burning approximately one kilometre away from CFB Wainwright on Saturday. The footage was captured at a private property near the military base. In the footage, flames are visible alongside a roadway and heavy smoke can be seen billowing through the air. A separate video from the same property shows the aftermath of the fire. In that footage, a wide swath of brush appears to have been burnt and smoke is still visible in the late afternoon sky. The Canadian Armed Forces has previously said the fire broke out in a training area at CFB Wainwright at approximately 4 p.m. local time Saturday before spreading rapidly beyond its boundaries. At a news conference earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Mark Carney said four service members were killed and dozens of others were wounded after an explosion resulted in a “violent, fast-moving fire” at the military base.
