1. Ukrainian president in Ottawa: Petro Poroshenko is on an official visit to Canada and will address the House of Commons Wednesday. We will have a live stream of his speech to Parliament at CTVNews.ca, starting at 2 p.m. ET. Poroshenko will also meet with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

2. Rob Ford update: Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto is expected to provide an update on Mayor Rob Ford's health late this afternoon. Ford pulled out of the mayoral race after a tumour was discovered in his abdomen. He has since undergone a lung biopsy.

3. Soldier suicide: A Canadian Forces medical technician who was involved in a 40-hour standoff with Ontario Provincial Police last month has died by suicide. Master Cpl. Denis Demers, 44, had attempted suicide a few days after the standoff, but was released from a psychiatric ward after 24 hours. His body was found on Sept. 12.

4. Missing family case: Douglas Garland, the man charged in the disappearance and murder of a five-year-old Calgary boy and his grandparents, is expected to appear in court Wednesday. Nathan O'Brien and his grandparents, Alvin and Kathy Liknes, vanished in June. Their bodies have not been found, but police said they believe the family members were murdered.

5. Deported Saskatoon woman fears stoning death: A Saskatchewan woman in her 60s was sent back to her native Pakistan Tuesday. According to her lawyer, Jamila Bibi came to Canada seven years ago, after being falsely accused of adultery. Bibi said she fears for her life in Pakistan, where she could be stoned to death for the crime.
