The City of Edmonton is set to lift its extreme heat response on Sunday at 9 a.m. A media release says weather conditions have improved enough to de-activate the response first set on Thursday. An extreme heat response is activated when daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 29 C or higher for at least three days in a row. The city saw its hottest temperature of the year so far on Friday when the daytime high peaked at 29 C. Water stations around the city will stay open until Sept. 30. City facilities also remain open, including libraries, pools and recreation centres. Free bottled water and N95 masks are available for pickup at city facilities, a list of which can be found online. If you are concerned about someone outside in the heat, the city asks that you call 211 and press three for the crisis diversion team or 911 for someone in serious distress.
