A woman was injured in a shooting in Calgary’s city centre early Monday morning. Police say the incident happened outside the Red Room Lounge at 314 3rd St. S.E. around 4:45 a.m. The victim—a woman in her 20s—was grazed, police say. EMS say they transported a woman who appeared to have been shot from that area to hospital. She was transported in non-life-threatening condition, EMS say. Police don’t believe the woman was the intended target. Police believe two men were involved in a physical altercation when one pulled a gun and opened fire. An estimated 100 to 150 people were in the area at the time. However, police say only three people had come forward as of Monday night. “Our efforts rely on strong community support, and we know there are other witnesses who are choosing not to come forward,” Staff Sgt. Mike Sushelnitsky said. “We will not tolerate acts of senseless violence, especially when innocent bystanders are injured.” Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
