Nothing says “summer night at the drive-in” quite like a movie about Jamaican bobsledders competing in the Calgary Winter Olympics. WinSport announced that on Thursday Aug.13, it is turning its west side overflow parking lot into a drive-in theatre to screen Cool Runnings. As Calgarians with long memories will recall, the funny, family-friendly Disney film was inspired by the story of the Jamaican bobsled team who won the hearts of sports fans during the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. The uplifting story of courage, perseverance and winter sports was also partly shot at Canada Olympic Park in the winter of 1993. Tickets are available for a parking fee of $41.50 a vehicle. There’s no individual admissions, with gates open at 7 p.m. and the film at 9 p.m. The audio will be broadcast over an FM channel that will be revealed to ticket holders. For tickets, go here.
