Tuesday will be the warmest weather for at least a couple of weeks with daytime highs in the low 20s across southern Alberta. Warm air continues to flow west to east over the Rockies with a ridge of high pressure extending into the territories. This pattern will start to change over the next couple of days when a low-pressure system pushes the mid-latitude jet further south along the western edge of B.C. Cold air will funnel into the B.C. interior and Alberta and meet up with moisture from the Pacific basin. Rain is expected to transition to snow on Friday and continue into Saturday. Road conditions in the higher elevations between Alberta and British Columbia could quickly deteriorate, especially where the cold front crosses through and introduces stronger wind gusts. The precipitation totals will likely be lower – including in Calgary — but depending on the timing, there is the potential for some areas to be significantly impacted by the above combination of cold air, strong wind and precipitation. Daytime highs on Saturday will sit well-below seasonal, in the low-to mid single-digits, with overnight temperatures below freezing. Temperatures in Calgary will slowly climb back into the low-double digits by the middle of next week.
