Calgary’s Brad Jacobs wasn’t the only big curling winner in the city Saturday. The University of Calgary Dinos men’s team won their first USports national championship, defeating Carleton 7-6 at the Caledonia Curling Club in Regina. “We didn’t come with our best stuff to start the week, so we started a little slow, but we kept getting better every game,” said Dino skip Kenan Wipf. Saturday, they took it to an extra end before the Dinos won it. Wipf sang the praises of his teammates Saturday, after they defeated Memorial 8-6 in the semi-final and then won it all in the final. “They make my job easier,” he said. “That’s just how it is with team sports. “You need the whole team to play, and they came to play today. It’s always great to have a great team backing you. And just, yeah, it’s, it’s a blessing to be in this spot.” The Jacobs rink were in Italy, celebrating their gold medal victory over Britain at the Winter Olympics. With files from CTV’s Tyler Barrow
