A red tornado warning was cancelled for the County of Warner just before 5 p.m. Thursday. Alberta Emergency Alert cancelled the warning just after 4:30 p.m. “This warning is no longer in effect for Warner County,” it said, adding, “The watch for the wider Lethbridge area is still in effect.” At 5:20 p.m. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) downgraded the tornado watch in Lethbridge to a yellow severe thunderstorm watch. “Tornados are no longer expected for Warner County,” ECCC posted. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) posted the warning at 3:56 p.m., advising that “meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. The County of Warner is located southeast of Lethbridge and its southern boundary meets the Canada-U.S. border. Severe thunderstorm watch for Lethbridge At 3:14 p.m., an orange tornado watch was posted for the City of Lethbridge. “Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms this evening that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. “Remember, severe thunderstorms could produce tornadoes.” At 6 p.m., it was 27 C in Lethbridge and partly cloudy. The forecast was for a 30 per cent chance of showers Thursday evening with the risk of a severe thunderstorm and fog patches developing overnight.
