For two days, the Tango 2 Echo Festival has taken over parts of the Greenview Industrial Business Improvement Area (BIA) in northeast Calgary. The activities started Saturday night with a motorcycle stunt show. Tango 2 Echo is a play on the area’s T2E postal code. The aim of festival organizers is to showcase the area’s unique blend of automotive businesses, construction companies, restaurants and self-guided public art. “This is actually the eighth annual Tango 2 Echo, but the Rides and Rods car show has been going on for 18 years,“ said festival spokesperson Matt Wallace. ”We’ve kind of just adopted it as part of the festival as way to promote the area. As it has grown, Tango 2 Echo morphed into its own unique style, Wallace said. “Well, each year the festival seems to get a little bit more chaotic,” he said. “We take on new acts such as the motorcycle show, or -- the cabaret is (also) kind of new for us this year.” The BIA partnered with Fresh Start Recovery for this year’s festival. It included a barbecue, with all the proceeds from that going to Fresh Start. The event continues through Sunday. It’s free and all ages are welcome. With files from CTV News Calgary’s Darren Wright
