RCMP have released images of two suspects wanted in connected with an armed robbery in Strathmore last weekend that prompted a shelter-in-place order for the entire town. The armed robbery happened at Strathmore’s Wheatland Hotel at 10:35 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24. Mounties say a suspect entered the hotel with a gun and demanded money. However, the employee activated a panic alarm, causing the suspect to flee. RCMP issued a shelter-in-place order for the town as a precaution and began searching for the suspect. Mounties couldn’t find the man and lifted the shelter-in-place order about three hours later. On Tuesday, RCMP issued a description of the suspect — and another suspect seen entering the hotel at the same time as him. The first suspect was wearing a mask and tan gloves, a black hoodie, red t-shirt, faded blue jeans, a black belt and black adidas shoes with white stripes. He was carrying an Adidas duffel bag/gym bag and was approximately 6’ tall (183 centimetres) with a larger build. Mounties say a second suspect was about 5’9” tall (175 centimetres) with a slender build, wearing a black jacket, dark pants and black shoes. After the robbery attempt both suspects fled in a silver Chrysler 300. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects — or additional information about the incident — is asked to call Strathmore RCMP at 403-934-3968. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
