The Chinook Sexual Assault Centre has added a new support for its youth clients. It comes in the form of a two-year-old dog named Link. Link and his handler will offer support to youth and their families coming into the centre. The centre has been working to get a support dog for several years now. Both Link and his trainer have received extensive training before going into service. The centre expects Link will be a great addition to their support system. “Link’s job here at the child advocacy centre will be to provide support during a child’s journey through the investigative and judicial process,” said Baylee Schmidt with the centre. “He will do meet-and-greets with children and their families before they have an interview or maybe before a particularly hard meeting that they have to attend.” While he’s primarily intended for younger clients, Link will also be available to help support adults.
