Singer/songwriter Steven Page takes the stage Dec. 6 with the Calgary Philharmonic in a holiday special that reflects his own unique background. Page grew up Jewish in Toronto and enjoyed both Hanukkah and Christmas. “We did get stockings on Christmas. We did....’cause there was a lot of FOMO going on in our house,” Page told CTV News. Page said he’ll play Christmas favourites, Hanukkah songs, along with tunes from his solo and Barenaked Ladies catalogue. Joining him and the orchestra will be guitarist Craig Northey from the Odds and cellist Kevin Fox, both of whom have played with Page for several years. “We’re at that stage in our relationship as a band where we can work telepathically now. So, I know it’s a good mix. We don’t have to speak,” Page said. As for a Barenaked Ladies reunion, don’t hold your breath. “I think both parties are happy doing what they’re doing without the other party. At the same time, I’m super proud of everything we did together.”
