We’re just a couple of days away from the Calgary Stampede Parade. The official kickoff to the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth is set for 9 a.m. Friday, following an 8 a.m. prelude show. The Stampede says last year’s parade attracted over 350,000 spectators. This year’s parade, presented again by Suncor, looks to lure in a few folks more with its 120-plus entries. Olympians Courtney Sarault and Mikaël Kingsbury are this year’s marshals. Andrew Phung is this year’s celebrity judge. The parade’s route can be found online at calgarystampede.com/stampede/parade. Taking advantage of expanded Calgary Transit hours is highly recommended. “Restrictions to street parking on the roads immediately south of downtown and in East Village come into effect at noon on Thursday, July 2, with most roads in and out of the downtown core closing at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, July 3,” the Stampede said. “Vehicle access to these areas will be restored after the parade concludes and Calgary police determine it is safe to do so, around 2 p.m.” More information about CTrain service during the Stampede is available at calgarytransit.com/news/stampede-101.html.
