Police have made an arrest in connection with a serious stabbing in Calgary’s East Village on Wednesday. The violence erupted around 3 p.m. on 4th Street S.E. near 7th Avenue S.E. Officers were called to the scene for a report of an assault with a weapon and found a 25-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. Police said the victim was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. On Wednesday night, police provided an update to say the victim remains in hospital and is currently in serious but stable condition. “While it is too early in the investigation to accurately determine the nature of the attack, we treat all incidents of violence as serious public safety concerns, regardless of the circumstances and investigate accordingly,” police said on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, police provided another update to say a suspect had been located and arrested. Tyree Jordan Alexander, 26, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon. He’s scheduled to next appear in court on Friday. Police said on Thursday afternoon the victim and suspect know each other.
