A documentary that takes a nostalgic look at Calgary’s Stampede Wrestling debuts at the Calgary International Film Festival this week. Singhs in the Ring looks at the career of Gama Singh, who often portrayed a villain in the ring opposite the Hart Brothers. “Competing against the Harts, you had no choice but to be a bad guy,” Singh told CTV News. “I wasn’t even alive during Stampede Wrestling, so I got to travel into the past and tell this wonderful man’s story,” said Akash Sherman, who directed the film. Singhs in the Ring will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Globe Cinema. Singh and Sherman will be part of a Q-and-A session after the film. Visit ciffcalgary.ca for tickets.
