An adventurous group for seniors is marking a major milestone. The Second Sixties Outdoor Club marked its 50th anniversary Wednesday afternoon. Club members head to the mountains every Wednesday for an afternoon of hiking, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing. It was founded as a way for seniors to enjoy the outdoors and stay active with like-minded individuals. “When I retired, I didn’t know what I was going to do, so I started, I joined this club,” said Margaret Johnson. “And I’ve met so many great friends, I’ve travelled to different places around the world with them, I’ve gone on backpacking trips with them, it’s been wonderful.” There are currently just under 200 members of the group. Along with the Wednesday trips, the club does city walks on Mondays and golf during the summer.
