Calgary received more rain in the past several days than it normally would in the entire month of June. The city says it received “an average of 100 millimetres of precipitation across Calgary and the Bow and Elbow River catchments” between May 30 and June 2. A typical June would see 80 millimetres. On Wednesday, the city said river levels will remain elevated for a few days, but no widespread overland flooding is expected. Some pathways remain shuttered. Closed Bow River pathways include: the Reconciliation Bridge (Edmonton Trail) underpass pathways, north bank; the Centre Street Bridge underpass pathways; the Louise Bridge (10 Street N.W.) underpass pathways, north bank; Bowmont Park pathways and the north channel bridge; the north bank pathway along the south side of the Calgary Zoo; the underpass pathway at Baines Bridge; and St. Patrick’s Island, north side pathways. Closed Elbow River pathways include the south bank pathway along the 25 Avenue (Scollen Bridge) underpass (near Lindsay Park); the south bank pathway along the Macleod Trail S. (Pattison Bridge) underpass (near Lindsay Park); the south bank pathway along the Macleod Trail N. (Victoria Bridge) underpass (near Lindsay Park); and the south bank pathway along the CNR bridge underpass (Lindsay Park). The city says its 311 line has received 470 calls requesting catch basins be cleared and ponding be addressed.
