A unique Calgary fundraising event Saturday at the Olympic Oval blended a relay race with a dance party. That was the vibe at One Track Mind, a three-hour running and music event aimed at raising money for the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and the Northwest Territories’ Hope for Tomorrow campaign. Relay teams took turns running laps around the Olympic Oval’s indoor track. The initiative was launched by Jeff Shikaze to honour both his grandmothers, who died from Alzheimer’s disease. “I think it’s really important,” said Shikaze. “Obviously, it’s it’s a fun atmosphere in there, but ultimately, it’s fundraising for and raising awareness for a serious and horrible disease in Alzheimer’s.” This is the second year for the event. Shikaze said he is hoping to raise $8,000 this year. With files from CTV News’ Darren Wright
