A rainfall warning was issued for the City of Calgary Sunday morning. At 4:46 a.m., Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued the warning, predicting heavy rain throughout the day that could bring 50 to 100 mm of rain to the city. “Rain will begin this morning and will continue into Monday before slowly diminishing on Monday night, ECCC posted. “The rain will end by Tuesday morning. Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. “Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure. Don’t drive through flooded roadways. Watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.” The forecast also calls for heavy winds gusting up to 70 km/h Sunday morning and up to 50 km/h throughout the afternoon. Mayor Farkas posted on social media as well, saying rivers are expected to rise but flooding is not anticipated.
