Didsbury is getting a visit from Primary Care Alberta’s mobile mammography trailer this month. The trailer is scheduled to be at Didsbury District Health Services Nov. 25-28 as well as Nov. 30. Eligible individuals aged 45 to 74 can attend the trailer and get a free mammogram, though Primary Care Alberta says an appointment is needed. “A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast,” Primary Care Alberta said in a release. “Screening mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early when treatment may work better. Getting screened for breast cancer saves lives.” Didsbury District Health Services is located at 1210 20 Ave. in the central Alberta town. Those interested can call 1-800-667-0604 to schedule an appointment. Additional information about the program can also be had by calling that number. More information about screening eligibility can be found online, here. A schedule of mobile mammography trailer visits can likewise be found online, here. “In addition to mobile mammography clinics, screening can also be performed at specific radiology clinics and some hospitals,” Primary Care Alberta said. Primary Care Alberta suggested discussing breast cancer risk with a health-care provider “to determine whether screening is appropriate.” More information about where to get screened is available online, here.
