A female pedestrian was badly injured in a crash on 17 Avenue S.W. on Wednesday. The collision happened in the 900 block of 17 Avenue S.W. at 3:30 p.m. and involved two vehicles. Emergency crews arrived to find one vehicle in the intersection and another with front-end damage resting on the sidewalk after colliding with a planter outside of Purr. The Calgary Fire Department says one person – believed to be a pedestrian – was located in the planter with severe injuries. Calgary police say the pedestrian’s injuries are “potentially life-altering.” Drivers of both vehicles were assessed at the scene. Emergency Health Services transported two adults to hospital in non-life-threatening condition. The collision caused the closure of 17 Avenue S.W. in both directions between 9A Street and Seventh Street S.W.
