Official Calgary election results released

A recount might still be coming, but Calgary's mayor-elect and new-look city council are getting straight to work.

Elections Calgary has released the official results from the city’s 2025 municipal election.

Close to 350,000 Calgarians cast ballots on Monday, a voter turnout of 39.05 per cent.

The results show former councillor Jeromy Farkas elected as mayor with 91,071 votes – just 581 more than Communities First party leader Sonya Sharp.

Sharp announced on Friday she has officially requested a recount, citing the need to ensure full transparency and confidence in Calgary’s democratic process.

“Calgarians deserve absolute confidence that every vote has been counted accurately and that the process is beyond reproach,” Sharp said in a news release.

“This request is about strengthening trust in the system.”

Later Friday night, it was announced the recount requested by Sharp had been approved by the returning officer.

The recount will be held Monday, starting at 9:30 a.m.

Official election results are as follows:

• Mayor: Jeromy Farkas, 91,071 votes. Runner up: Sonya Sharp, 90,490 votes;
• Ward 1: Kim Tyers: 7,806 votes. Runner up: Joey Nowak: 7,332 votes;
• Ward 2: Jennifer Wyness, 8,872 votes. Runner up: John Garden 6,106 votes;
• Ward 3: Andrew Yule, 9,842 votes. Runner up: Christy Edwards, 3,949 votes
• Ward 4: Daniel James (DJ) Kelly, 11,881 votes. Runner up: Jeremy Wong, 10,443 votes;
• Ward 5: Raj Dhaliwal, 6,242 votes. Runner up: Aryan Sadat, 3,719 votes;
• Ward 6: John Pantazopoulos, 12,893 votes. Runner up: Joanne Brice, 6,610 votes;
• Ward 7: Myke Atkinson, 8,527 votes. Runner up: Terry Wong, 7,245 votes;
• Ward 8: Nathaniel Schmidt, 8,806 votes. Runner up: Cornelia Wiebe, 7,754 votes.
• Ward 9: Harrison M. Clark, 4,845 votes. Runner up: Gar Gar, 4,578 votes.
• Ward 10: Andre Chabot, 8,815 votes. Runner up: Nickie Brockhoff, 3,048 votes.
• Ward 11: Rob Ward, 21,022 votes. Runner up: Kourtney Penner, 8,392 votes.
• Ward 12: Mike Jamieson, 6,865 votes. Runner up: Sarah Ferguson: 6,806 votes.
• Ward 13: Dan McLean, 16,339 votes. Runner up: Elliot Weinstein, 8,824 votes.
• Ward 14: Landon Johnston, 9,154 votes. Runner up: Devin Elkin, 5,417 votes.

The official swearing-in ceremony will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 7 p.m.
