Elections Calgary has released the official results from the city’s 2025 municipal election. Close to 350,000 Calgarians cast ballots on Monday, a voter turnout of 39.05 per cent. The results show former councillor Jeromy Farkas elected as mayor with 91,071 votes – just 581 more than Communities First party leader Sonya Sharp. Sharp announced on Friday she has officially requested a recount, citing the need to ensure full transparency and confidence in Calgary’s democratic process. “Calgarians deserve absolute confidence that every vote has been counted accurately and that the process is beyond reproach,” Sharp said in a news release. “This request is about strengthening trust in the system.” Later Friday night, it was announced the recount requested by Sharp had been approved by the returning officer.
