New West Theatre is preparing to open its latest show in Lethbridge. Flight Risk tells the story of a Second World War veteran turning 100 who only wants to get out of his care facility. It was written by Alberta playwright Meg Braem. It was first performed online during the pandemic, but has been repurposed for a live stage show. The heartwarming and funny show tells how different generations of people can learn from one another. The team behind the play believes local audiences will love the performance. “It’s a beautiful story. It’s an incredible story about real human connection, written by an Albertan playwright, performed by some incredible local actors,” said Kelly Reay, New West’s artistic director. “And it’s a little bit different than the song and dance stuff that the newest theatre is well known for.” Flight Risk starts tomorrow and runs until Oct. 24 at the Sterndale Bennett Theatre.
