Mount Royal University is investigating a cyber security incident that shut down its website Wednesday and impacted online and on-campus services. “When the issue was identified, the university took prompt steps to contain the threat and protect its systems,” the university wrote in a post online. “We have retained external cyber security experts to assist with the response and investigation, and we are following our established incident response protocols.” The university says security experts are still determining whether any personal information or other data was accessed. It says it took steps to contain the threat, but the breach disrupted its web services, on-campus internet and telephone service. The university says students should still attend their exams as scheduled, unless their professor or instructor tells them to work remotely.
