The best went last Thursday night at the 2026 Rangeland Derby, with Jamie Laboucane solidifying his grip on the top spot. Laboucane recorded a sizzling time of 1:10:18 in the ninth heat, nearly a second better than Jason Glass who recorded a time of 1:11:02. Close behind Glass was defending Rangeland Derby champion Chanse Vigen who recorded a time of 1:11:03. All three competed in the ninth and final heat of the night on a warm, dry night at GMC Stadium. While Glass didn’t come out on top for the the first time in the last three nights, he slipped into all-important third place in the aggregate totals. There, Laboucane leads with an aggregate time of 8:24:56, putting him 2.68 seconds in front of Vigen and almost five seconds up on Glass, who leads fourth-place Logan Gorst by around one and a half seconds. Ray Couteau Jr., who had been third all week, slipped back to fifth place, in part due to six seconds of penalties Thursday night. The top three aggregate times after Saturday night’s heat advance to Sunday’s championship final.
