Jim Kinnear’s sights set on future of alternative energy with summit

Jim Kinnear joins Ian White to discuss The Future of Energy Global Summit, which will be held in Banff in mid-September.

Former Pengrowth Energy CEO Jim Kinnear made his name in the oil and gas industry, but now his sights are set on the future of alternative energy.

He’s hosting “The Future of Energy Summit” at the Kinnear Centre for Creativity and Innovation in Banff this fall.

“We don’t cover at our conference in any detail conventional oil and gas, and the reason is that’s already very well covered by the investment community,” Kinnear told CTV News.

Instead, wind, solar, hydrogen, LNG, geothermal and nuclear energy are on the agenda.

“Alberta, as we all know, has an abundance of sunshine. So, we’re fortunate that way,” Kinnear said.

Part 1 of the annual conference has already been held in May in London, where Kinnear said he found a receptive audience.

“Absolutely, they’re open to all areas of the energy business,” he said.
