An Okotoks man who won a million dollars on a lottery ticket said he thought at first his win was $100,000. “I didn’t have my glasses,” Sheldon Crowdis said in a Western Canada Lottery Corporation news release. “I took it to the cashier to scan and said, ‘I think I won a bunch of money – maybe $100,000.’” Crowdis said the cashier scanner his Lotto Max ticket and replied, “No, you won $1 million.” Crowdis purchased his winning ticket from the Shoppers Drug Mart on Southridge Drive in Okotoks. He won by matching one of the 22 Max Millions selections in the Dec. 16 draw: 3, 24, 25, 26, 38, 41 and 48. “It’s a life-changing moment, there’s no doubt about it,” Crowdis said. “Other than sharing with my children and grandchildren, I’m planning to put this into savings.” “I also might do a trip to Mexico and go fishing – I’d love to go fishing in Cuba too. “It’s pretty exciting, that’s for sure – it’s one of those things you hope for but never expect.”
