The Alberta NDP launched Rally the Vote for Canada in Calgary Saturday. The aim of the province-wide tour is to unite Albertans ahead of the Oct. 19 separation referendum. More than a dozen tour stops are planned across the province right up until Oct. 19. Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi says there have always been Alberta separatists but in the midst of a trade war, it’s nore important than ever for Albertans to join the rest of Canada to show unity and strength. He said this initiative is to get like-minded folks to understand they’re part of a huge movement, and to engage people and fight for people to vote in the Oct. 19 referendum. “I’m still very worried that a lot of pro-Canadian voters are taking the referendum for granted,” said Nenshi. “They see it as the trick it is from Danielle Smith, and they don’t want to participate. But it’s really important that if you love Canada, you got to come out and vote.” Nenshi said Premier Danielle Smith is going to Tennessee this week and that’s not showing unity, saying even Quebec won’t hold a separation vote while U.S. President Donald Trump remains in office.
