A Calgarian who won a whopping $7 million on the lottery says he was so excited learning about the windfall that he couldn’t sleep. Khalid Ahmad purchased his Daily Grand ticket from Jerry’s Convenience Store in Saddle Ridge and won on the April 6 draw by matching all five numbers plus the grand number. He realized he had won when checking his ticket on the Lotto Spot app. “I was shocked when I saw it said ‘winner,’” he said. “I took good care of the ticket to make sure it didn’t get damaged or wet.” Ahmad says he has family in Germany and Saudi Arabia he plans to visit – and he might check out Paris too. Aside from that, it’s about ensuring his kids are well cared for. “I will help my family – my daughters and son – to have a secured future. That’s what’s most important to me at my age.” Ahmad said he is excited for all the adventures ahead of him.
