Luxury shoppers will soon have a new place to find some of the priciest and sought after French fashions in Calgary. Barclay Street Real Estate announced Tuesday that it has helped secure the new Hermès boutique in the city, reinforcing Calgary’s place as a shopping destination for international brands. The building, located in the heart of downtown Calgary, is already under construction. “This project reflects the strength of Calgary’s retail market and the collaborative efforts required to attract globally recognized brands to our city,” said David Wallach, owner and broker, Barclay Street Real Estate, in a news release. Officials say Hermès has approximately 294 stores worldwide across 45 countries and the brand “carefully selects the locations in which it operates.” “The arrival of Hermès in Calgary represents a significant milestone for the city’s luxury retail sector,” said Bill Falagaris, Barclay’s executive vice-president of office leasing. “Calgary (is) one of a limited number of cities globally to host a boutique from the iconic French luxury house.” The opening date for the boutique was not released.
