A Calgary man is facing more than a dozen charges after officers allegedly seized a gun and ammunition from his hotel room at the Red Carpet Inn. Police approached the driver of a truck parked outside the hotel, located in the 4600 block of 16 Avenue N.W., at 11 p.m. on Sept. 18. Officers determined the driver didn’t have a valid licence and that the vehicle was stolen. The driver was arrested. Officers then searched the man’s hotel room, at which time they found a loaded AR-15-style rifle with the serial number removed, several magazines, a suppressor, ammunition and cell phones. The accused, a 35-year-old man, faces 15 charges, including nine firearms-related offences. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 28.
