A Canadian singer is taking centre stage with Foreigner this fall on their cross-country tour. Geordie Brown is joining the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band as a guest vocalist. Brown already knows the material after having starred in Juke Box Hero, the musical that incorporates Foreigner’s music, which made its debut in Calgary in 2018. “That was an incredibly exciting time in my life,” Brown told CTV News. As a resident of Halifax, Brown is removed from the epicentre of musical theatre in Canada. “I borrowed my mom’s air miles and flew myself to Toronto for those auditions, and the rest is history,” Brown said. “I got cast in the lead role.” After runs in Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto, Juke Box Hero stopped, frozen in time by the pandemic. Years later, Brown admits his memory of the songs is a bit rusty. “I’m quite proud that I can sing a lot of different material. But for this Foreigner material, I’ve really got to be on my A game,” Brown said. “It really taps into the most extreme parts of my range.”
