Celebrate and showcase the diversity of French culture through music, art, food and exhibitions at Franco Festival Calgary. This FREE event will be taking place rain or shine and all programming is in both English and French. On the main stage, Franco Festival will include multiple musical guests including Bombolese, a 7 piece ensemble from Brazil that plays explosive rythms mixed with enchanting lyrics. As well, eclectic group Oktopus will take the stage with their wide range of instruments as they transport the audience to a world of gypsy happenings and Eastern European sound. Mirelle Moquin, winner of the 2013 Calgary Folk fest eye candy award will also be playing the main stage, showcasing her folk/country sound.In addition to our main stage, Franco Festival features a Cultural Village containing a wide array of art exhibitions and artist workshops. Art exhibitions include paintings, statues, sculptures, jewelry and countless other craft and art pieces from six different francophone countries. As well, artists will be giving workshops to allow festival goers a behind the scenes look at how the art is made. Franco Festival is also proud to partner with Village Brewery to provide a beer garden featuring Village Brewery’s finest and well-loved classics. As well, there will be a Kids Zone with activities specifically created for them and interactive games for all ages. There will be plenty of food on site as Franco Festival features a wide array of food from many different francophone countries. Some choices include crêpes, quiches and beignets from Le Gourmet, a Haitian Station including Haitian patties and a côte d’Ivoire inspired BBQ featuring BBQ chicken and Beef.
