Calgary police say more than $150,000 worth of fentanyl was seized as part of a recent drug investigation. Officers launched the investigation in January following a tip from Ontario police about a potential drug trafficker. Police took the suspect into custody during a traffic stop in Crescent Heights on April 16 after observing suspected drug trafficking activity. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 22 grams of fentanyl, 18 grams of crack cocaine and two cell phones. Police searched an apartment in the 100 block of Second Avenue S.W., seizing a Taser, as well as an apartment, in the 100 block of First Avenue E. in Cochrane, seizing more drugs and five firearms, including a loaded handgun with a 3D-printed receiver and a Glock slide. Police say 1,170 rounds of ammunition were also found from the home. Jacob Seal, 29, of Cochrane, is facing multiple drugs and weapons-related charges. “The seizure of these drugs and firearms undoubtedly prevented significant harm to our community,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Jake Debolt in a Monday news release.
