For the second year of the Eastern Slopes Music and Arts Festival, artistic director Tory Rosso admits it was challenging to weed through all the artists who wanted to be involved. The festival received “an overwhelming amount” of submissions, Rosso said. “It was a very good and very difficult problem to pare it down to just 14 acts.” Closing out the festival on Saturday at the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association is Ginger Beef, featuring Calgary Flames organist Warren Tse and his wife, flutist Jiajia Li. “They’re one of my favourite live acts to see in the city. Their rhythm section is incredible. They bring a great energy,” Rosso told CTV News. “The goal is really just to showcase as many different factions of the scene as we can. You know, there’s a little bit of everything from rock to pop, hip hop, country, soul, folk.” There will also be ice cream from Village Ice Cream and Made by Marcus, and craft beer from Big Rock and a variety of local food trucks.
