Calgary man drove through active crime scene at ‘high rate of speed’: police

A Calgary man is facing charges after he allegedly drove through an active crime scene on Wednesday.

It’s alleged the accused passed through a temporary barricade put up on Stoney Trail and McKnight Boulevard following a fatal collision.

Police say he continued through the crime scene at a “high rate of speed” while officers were present, “potentially putting their lives at risk while also potentially destroying crucial evidence.”

The 39-year-old was arrested and his vehicle was seized.

He’s been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and obstructing a peace officer.

“Police often close roads after collisions to protect the officers at work and the integrity of the investigation,” said Insp. Robbie Patterson.

“The barricades are there for a reason and there is no excuse for drivers to ignore them.”
