Calgary police have released photos of a man who allegedly used counterfeit cash to buy a silver bar in a Facebook Marketplace sale. It’s alleged the man used fake $20, $50 and $100 bills when purchasing a 10-ounce silver bar from a seller in the community of Marlborough on Tuesday, March 3. “The victim and suspect met online through Facebook Marketplace, where the suspect had been using a fake profile,” police said in a Thursday news release. Investigators have tried to identify the man, but haven’t been able to thus far, and are asking for the public’s help. He is described as 20 to 25 years old, with brown hair and a moustache. He was wearing a maroon-coloured Champion hoodie and black pants. Anyone with information about this incident or the identity of the man is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
