Some Calgary elementary students got to try out some trades on Tuesday. The “Try A Trade” event was meant to connect around 200 Calgary Catholic School District students directly with industry professionals. Grade 5 and 6 students were able to participate in hands-on activities and demonstrations. The goal was to get the kids thinking more about apprenticeship and career options in the trades. “I’m really happy that I’m here,” said Kashvi, a Grade 6 student. “It wa about building with pipes and it was really cool. It was about how they use tools to put it together --that was really cool.” Both the Calgary Construction Association and the Alberta Roofing Contractors participated in Tuesday’s event.
