Police are searching for an unknown man believed to have been involved in a road rage assault in southwest Calgary last week. On May 13, around 3:40 p.m., police say a family was driving westbound on Stoney Trail S.W. near TsuuT’ina Trail in a blue-green 2022 Ford Maverick pickup truck when they noticed they were being tailgated. The other vehicle was driven by a man in a 2021 or newer black Nissan Pathfinder SUV with dark-tinted windows and black rims. The driver of the truck pulled over in the area of Stoney Trail S.W. and 162nd Avenue S.W. to let the SUV pass. Police said instead, the man parked behind the truck and exited his vehicle. The driver of the truck also got out of his vehicle and an altercation broke out. When another motorist stopped to help, both men returned to their vehicles. The victim drove away, but the suspect continued to follow him. After calling 911 to report the incident, the victim drove to a fast-food restaurant in the 300 block of Shawville Boulevard S.E. to wait for police. The Pathfinder was last seen travelling northbound on Everstone Drive S.W., according to police. The suspect is described as a man, approximately 40 to 50 years old, who is 6’5” tall with an olive complexion, slim build, short salt and pepper hair and a beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing business attire, including a suit vest. Police also provided a photo of the front of the suspect’s vehicle. Investigators are searching for witnesses or dash-cam footage of the incident. They are asking anyone who was in the following areas on May 13 to contact police: Westbound Stoney Trail S.W. near TsuuT’ina Trail S.W. between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m.; and Stoney Trail S.W. at 162nd Avenue S.W. to Everstone Drive S.W. between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Anyone with footage or information related to this incident can call police at 403-266-1234.
