Calgary police say a senior injured in a crash on Crowchild Trail last month has died. The collision happened in the southbound lanes near 32 Avenue N.W. just before 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22. Police say the 79-year-old driver of a 2015 BMW “suddenly slowed,” resulting in him being rear-ended by the Toyota Tacoma behind him. The Tacoma driver and two nine-year-old passengers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. The driver of the BMW suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he later died. While neither speed nor impairment are not considered factors in the crash, police say the “medical fitness of the BMW driver” is being investigated. Anyone with additional information about the crash can call police at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
