The Calgary Civic Symphony is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a Golden Opener Sunday at Jack Singer Concert Hall. Led by Music Director and Conductor Rolf Bertsch, the concert will feature cellist Luka Coetzee, who will perform Elgar’s Cello Concerto, Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 and the world premiere of a new work by Alberta composer John Estacio. Estacio composed the music for the Calgary Opera’s original operas Filumena and Frobisher. “Celebrating 50 years is a remarkable milestone for the Calgary Civic Symphony and we are grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey,” says Rolf Bertsch, Music Director and Conductor. “We look forward to celebrating this anniversary with our longtime supporters and welcoming new audiences to experience the beauty of orchestral music.” Tickets start at $26, and kids six and under get in free.
