Calgary’s Bow Valley College is getting rid of more than 100 positions due to a significant budget shortfall. In a statement Friday, the school confirmed 103 positions are being abolished, including 97 that are occupied and six that are vacant. The release of the college’s 2025/26 budget came with a shortfall of $15.4 million. The shortfall was attributed to a decrease in international student enrolment and other program funding changes, such as Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) and the Foundational Learning Assistance Program (FLAP). “The college had to find efficiencies and make difficult decisions,” the school said in its statement. Bow Valley said it is supporting employees through these changes as it continues to adapt to changes in the post-secondary landscape. The school operates four campuses in and around Calgary, including one downtown and others in Airdrie, Cochrane and Okotoks.
