Calgary council has voted in favour of a land use change that will pave the way for a large multi-residential development at a former mobile home park in the city’s southeast. The land, located along Blackfoot Trail near Southland Drive, is eyed by Cedarglen Living Inc. for a 581-unit development. The plan could see a “multi-residential development consisting of seven four-storey apartment buildings,” reads a submission to the city. “I think it’s really important to keep in mind as we grow and expand as a city, more can sometimes be nice, but it comes with its own challenges as well,” said Coun. Kourtney Penner. A response from the Acadia Community Association, which was included in the submission, highlights three main concerns for area residents. There are also concerns about a lack of a retail components with the redevelopment, and the extra noise issues more people could bring into the area.
