Calgary police have arrested a second suspect in a March extortion case and are searching for a third man, officials said Monday. Charges were laid against Karanbir Singh, 21, in connection with firearms incidents that targeted a home in Saddleridge in February and again in March. A warrant has also been issued for 22-year-old Germanjeet Singh for the same shootings. Jaskaran Singh was previously arrested and charged on April 3. Police say the men are responsible for a shooting that targeted a home in the 8400 block of Saddleridge Drive N.E. at 2:45 a.m. on Feb. 22. At about 5:10 a.m. on March 4, the suspects allegedly shot at the same home. No one was hurt, but police say the incidents are connected to a series of extortion-related shootings in Calgary. “Through collaborative efforts and shared intelligence, we are sending a clear message that there is no room for extortion or violent criminal activity in our city or anywhere in our province,” said Acting Deputy Chief Jeff Bell of the Calgary Police Services’ bureau of investigative support, in a news release. Germanjeet Singh, the suspect still currently at large, is described as 173 centimetres (5’8”) tall, 90 kilograms (198 pounds), with brown eyes and black hair.
