The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) is investigating after an aircraft veered off the runway and was “substantially damaged” at the Springbank Airport on Friday morning. TSB said the incident, involving a privately registered, amateur-built aircraft, occurred during landing around 7:30 a.m. The only occupant on the aircraft was the pilot. EMS confirmed one adult patient was taken to hospital in very stable and non-life-threatening condition following the incident. “It is too early to make any determinations regarding the classification of the occurrence. We are currently gathering information and assessing the occurrence,” TSB said in an emailed statement. An investigator is expected to be on site at the airport on Friday. In a statement, the Calgary Airport Authority said the TSB cleared the aircraft to be moved, so it has been removed from the airfield.
