Mounties in central Alberta are warning parents to check their kids’ Halloween candy before allowing them to consume it. The warning comes after a family from Blackfalds reported a needle in their child’s trick-or-treating haul. RCMP released a photo of the candy bar, with the needle sticking out. RCMP say the needle was discovered before the candy bar was consumed. Meantime, police in Medicine Hat are investigating another scary discovery made among someone’s Halloween haul. “A resident reported finding a partially deflated bag of chips with what appeared to be a slit cut in one corner,” police said. “A portion of an unidentified pill bearing the number ’400′ was protruding from the opening.” Police say none of the item was consumed and no one became ill. Police say the family trick-or-treated in Medicine Hat’s Saamis area. “The pill has not been identified, and no other similar incidents have been reported to MHPS at this time,” police said. Anyone who makes such a discovery is encouraged to call their local police. If someone consumes a suspicious item or becomes ill after eating a suspicious item, they’re asked to call 911.
