29 weapon and drug charges laid against Lethbridge man and woman

A Lethbridge man and woman each face just shy of 30 criminal charges, police in the southern Alberta city say.

According to police, “activity consistent with drug trafficking” was observed Friday during an investigation into illegal firearm possession.

Two suspects were later arrested in an alley behind Mount Rundle Boulevard.

Police announced Monday that 36-year-old Vance Elton Rocky Roger Pidborochynski and 30-year-old Shelby Lee Filkowski had been charged.

Both are charged with:

• possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (four counts);
• unauthorized possession of a firearm (four counts);
• possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized (four counts);
• careless use of a firearm (four counts)
• possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence (four counts);
• possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition (three counts);
• unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle (two counts);
• tampering with a serial number; and
• possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (three counts).

Pidborochynski and Filkowski remained in custody Monday morning.

Both were scheduled to appear before a judge in Lethbridge later in the day.
