Ford is recalling more than 31,000 vehicles in Canada to address an issue with the windshield wiper arms.

The auto company said a selection of Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs are affected with the model years ranging from 2021 to 2023.

For Ford Super Duty trucks, the company is recalling certain models from 2022 and 2023.

A formal recall notice had not been posted through Transport Canada at time of publication, but Ford confirmed the recall in an email to CTVNews.ca. A spokesperson said the recall is due to an “insufficient attachment integrity” - a part or accessory that is not securely fastened to the vehicle’s body.

“This may cause the windshield wiper arm splines to strip or detach, leading to erratic or inoperable wiper function,” it said.

The issue increases the risk of a crash and reduces driver visibility in certain weather conditions, according to the auto company.

It also said it was not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Owners can expect notification by mail and are urged to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer. Wiper arms that do not pass inspection will be replaced with no cost for the customer.
