TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index was down nearly 100 points in late-morning trading, weighed down by losses in the telecom sector, while U.S. stock markets were mixed. The S&P/TSX composite index was down 84.83 points at 35,417.82. In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 105.77 points at 51,071.19. The S&P 500 index was up 32.02 points at 7,754.74, while the Nasdaq composite was up 205.08 points at 27,395.94. The Canadian dollar traded for 70.18 cents US compared with 70.20 cents US on Friday. The November crude oil contract was down 21 cents US at US$90.90 per barrel.
