TORONTO — Scotiabank has named veteran European banking executive Ralph Hamers to its board of directors. Hamers served as group chief executive of UBS Group AG form 2020 to 2023 and before that was chief executive of ING Group from 2013 to 2020. He is currently chairman of financial technology platform Banking Circle Group and chairman of Your.World B.V., a European online services firm. Scotiabank chair Aaron Regent says Hamers is a highly respected global banking leader with significant experience guiding complex financial institutions through periods of change. Regent says his expertise in digital transformation and innovation, and his global banking perspective, will be invaluable.
